Hibernation

This blog is going into hibernation for the winter, or at least for this season of life.  I have a second blog, a nature blog at The Wild Land of Lincoln, that I prefer to write for.  During the winter, I'll likely post more on here, but right now, it's a stage in my life where legos are on the back burner. All the Kalaxir shenanigans were kind of a sign that I was getting bored writing Lego stuff.  (He died, by the way, in a tomato/particle accelerator accident, aka the fast and the fruity) Sorry for any fans of this blog, but if you like nature, then check out my other blog.  I'm not getting rid of this blog, just taking a break.

#ForceFriday

#ForceFriday is awesome...

So, I bought the First Order Snowspeeder.  It ought to be called the snowspeedboat.  It literally looks like a boat.

This vehicle is extremely roomy. able to fit probably six soldiers without cargo and four with the cargo, which is extra blaster ammunition.  Those seats are huge as well.  I hope they're slightly oversized on the model, because the ship would look really wierd otherwise.  The proportions seem to be minifigure-scale.  The whole ship kinda has a mechanized, industrial feel.  It's not here to look good, it's here to get the job done.  It's one of my favorite ships from the new lineup, and for forty bucks and 444 pieces (on Sept 4, and may the fourth be with you, too) it's a pretty good value.  It sits up on hidden wheels to make it look as though it's skimming over the snow.  My single complaint is that this ship needs one more minifigure, preferably a member of the Resistance with some sort of sniper rifle to make a bit more of a battle.  Still, it's more than worth your money.

I wish this was a lego set!

So one of my story ideas, patent pending, is to have a group of Russian assassins face off against another group of ninja-inspired assassins in an old, bombed-out factory.  To put it simply, I built this in lego form.

So, here are the characters, whom are my intellectual copyright:

Colonel Josef Makarov, enemy of both sides

Two East Wind assassins, whom wear bulletproof armor under their robes

Maxim Doveschenko, of the East wind

Sergei Azarov

Vyacheslav Tagnin

Alexi Niktovitch

Dueling

Zipline!

Gunfights, w/ snow pieces in the collapsed section in the factory

Hiding behind a broken door

This  door is an office separate from the main room

Using a pipe and gun handle to block a sword

Alexi reaches for the gun to shoot Maxim, who is breaking through the door.

 East Wind  Attack Truck included

If this was a lego set, it would be...  $70.00

There's an East Wind coming...

"You left the East Wind to me, but I will say naught of it."  Other than to say that these guys are from a story plot idea for my book.

Blog Update #3- Epic Fail

Yeah, if you couldn't tell by the last few posts, I've been bored of the blog.  For one thing, my bro moved on to become a contributor on a diecast car blog.  Here's the link: https://kinja.com/dtg11

For another, I just decided to stop reviewing Lego sets. The content will be strictly news and cool builds by myself or other people.  Credit will be given where credit is due.

I've additionally been extremely busy and just don't prioritize the blog.  Expect a few posts a month from now on, maybe one a week if I can manage it.

Kalaxir is going away for now, because he's  juvenile and stupid.  He's supposed to be, but all the same he's not the best character to put in something like this.

I hope all 216 people who have clicked on the blog so far ARE disappointed by the lack of content.  I will try to do a better job, but don't hold me to it.  I made a lot of promises to myself at the beginning of summer of what I was going to get done and now at the end of the summer I haven't really kept them.  I failed this blog, to paraphrase Arrow.

Also, in regards to the leaks of the new Star Wars sets,  I do not plan to publish photos until September 4 when the sets are SUPPOSED to have their official release.  All content relating to those will be published then.  Sorry.

Sorry for everything.

Review of Ant Man: Final Battle

Hi, I'm going to give you a break from the Kalaxir shenanigans. Instead, I'm going to give you a semi-serious review of Ant-Man Final Battle.  This is the only Lego Ant Man set, which seems as though the set is contractually obligated, but Lego didn't really want to make it. Nevertheless, they did an excellent job.

First off, we have the real point of the set, the minifigures.  The rest of the set doesn't have to exist and I'd still be happy.

I suspect Hank Pym is going to be a villain in this movie towards the end.  I mean, it's not like that hasn't ever happened in the comics.  Also, black and red are traditional villain (or anti-hero) colors.  Of course, this is a guess, but...  I suspect there will be a three-way fight at the end of the movie between Scott Lang/Ant Man, Hank Pym, and Yellowjacket/ Darren Cross. *

Scott Lang/Ant Man has Ezra Bridger's head from Rebels, while Hank Pym has Gandalf's head.  Hank Pym also comes with an all-black head for no evident reason. The minifigures really don't come with too many accessories ,which is kind of annoying.
Yellowjacket is the best minifigure of the bunch.
He uses the generic badguy face, and his suit comes with two stud shooters.

The ant is a bit of a complex build, which is nice.  It is the largest part of the set by far.  It also scares my mom whenever she sees it.

This is clever. The two lego pieces are both real size and giant size.  Those two blue things are supposed to be ants.  They are exclusive to this set.

The giant-sized legos are cool, but the screw catapult is a bit odd.  It makes for an interesting play feature, but toy screws and legos don't really go together.

The set also comes with a transparent super jumper piece.  Don't use them, however, as they damage minifigure legs remarkably fast. and don't work well enough for me to consider using them,  Overall, this set gets a 7 out of ten, with points docked for generic faces, few accessories, and super jumpers.   Pros include a lot of nice pieces on the ant and unique minifigure body designs, as well as the clever lego bricks in two sizes. I heavily recommend this set, especially for Star Wars or Super Heroes fans.

*Spoiler:  I was wrong.  I don't know why Hank's suit is all black,  It's created for the set, it seems.

Update #3

Hi, this is an interruption from our regularly scheduled content.  Ok, so there is no schedule.  Who cares?

Anyway, there has been some major news lately that I feel is important to reveal.  All reveals and images come from The Brick Fan.  Spoilers where noted.

1. There's a Big Bang Theory set in production. I've never gotten into the show so this doesn't really excite me.   I believe most if not all of the series' regular characters will be in it. Below is an official picture.

LEGO Ideas The Big Bang Theory (21302)
2.  There are Angry Birds Legos coming.  Yippee-skippee.  This is for an incredibly dumb-looking Angry Birds movie, which if it is at all successful will probably start an Angry Birds cinematic universe.

3.  SPOILERS!!!!!!

So there's a new Star Wars movie coming out.  It looks like it'll be pretty good from the trailers.  Lego, as usual, is making sets for it.  Thanks to The Brick Fan, a copy of the sets and prices is here, and appears to be official.  Also, thanks to Reddit, a picture of what I would guess to be Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle has appeared.  No minifigures are to be seen, sadly.  I suspect they'll change the front end of the ship, because what is there looks to be a placeholder for a cockpit window.  Overall, the Force Awakens sets look pricey but loaded with pieces.

Rey’s Speeder (75099) – 193 pieces, $19.99 USD
First Order Snowspeeder (75100) – 444 pieces, $39.99 USD
First Order Special Force TIE (75101) – 517 pieces. $69.99 USD
Poe’s X-Wing Starfighter (75102) – 717 pieces ,$79.99 USD
First Order Transporter (75103) – 792 pieces, $89.99 USD
Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle (75104) – 1004 pieces, $119.99 USD
Millennium Falcon (75105) – 1332 pieces, $149.99 USD
All of these sets will be released September 4 as the fall lineup of Star Wars.  I really can't wait until then!
